HACWN offers a Mentoring Conference for April 16-18, 2009. This will be a chance for our writers to meet extensively with an editor who works in and acquires for the kind of book the writer seeks to publish. We will have at least six kinds of literature represented:
Adult Fiction
Adult Nonfiction
Children’s
Screenwriting
General Writing and Career – articles, devotionals, poetry, fillers, magazine writing, a mixed bag
Other genres may be available depending on interest.
THE FACULTY
We have the following editors to teach the different genres as follows:
Adult Fiction: Jeanette Windle -- representing Kregel Publications and also her own work as a bestselling novelist, Jeanette will coach group members in crafting a novel they can be ready to submit to editors.
Adult Nonfiction: Nick Harrison, Senior Editor, Harvest House Publications. Nick has acquired numerous books for HH, has written his own books, and looks forward to working with his group to help them get their ms. ready to show to editors all over the world.
Magazine Writing and Career: Eric Reed, former VIce-President and Manager, Christianity Today Publications and Leadership Magazine, Eric is now a freelancer who can help group members get their mss. ready and also possibly help in submitting to CTI magazines.
Children's Writing: Katara Patton, Editor, Tyndale House Publishing. Katara is the children's acquisition editor at Tyndale and can offer much guidance for writers to submit to Tyndale and elsewhere.
Screenplay Writing: Zena Dell Lowe, Writer, Actor, Director, and Producer. Zena has much experience in writing for the movies, has done several movies herself, worked as a director for ACT ONE, and has her own production company, Skirt Films, for which she seeks writers, especially women.

HOW IT WILL WORK: Each editor will establish their own routine with some group meetings (groups: maximum of 6-10 writers), and much one-on-one discussion.
